| ALASKA OFFICE MANAGED FROM UPSTATE LOCATION |
| |
Business needs:
AE Solutions made the decision to open a branch offices in
Alaska. CreekPointe was asked to design a scalable, secure network that was
easily managed from the central office.
Solution:
CreekPointe recommended deploying dedicated VPN tunnels
between the offices giving them the ability to securely connect to one
another and to eliminate the need for an IT tech at the remote
location. When the office was being launched, CreekPointe obtained their
new networking equipment and servers and pre‐configured each before
sending them to their new location. This gave AE Solutions the ability to have
the equipment up and running within minutes of receiving it. |
Benefits:
• Centrally‐managed extended network
• Secure, low‐cost connection between offices thousands of miles apart
• Pre‐configuration equipment eliminating the need for IT
service at the branch office. |

| Manufacturer increased security while lowering IT Cost! |
|
|
AE Solutions needed to be able to track the individual employees who had remote
access to log into their private network. Because of this need every time there was
an employee separation, it resulted in reconfiguring each user’s system which increased
overhead costs and down time for employees.
CreekPointe took those needs into consideration and recommended installing a radius
server which would monitor each individual user’s access to the network. The
server was configured to integrate with their existing Windows Active Directory network
so it did not require any additional equipment. By doing so, employees were
able to gain remote access by providing their network credentials and not relying on
a global password that constantly had to be changed. To IT, this meant eliminating
the configuration of every workstations due to one user’s separation. Now, when an
employee separates their account is disabled during IT’s exit procedure while not
effecting other employees. |
| Benefits |
- Increased security by
adding a second level of
authentication
- Integrated security with
their current Windows
Active Directory
- Provided accountability
of who was accessing
the network
- Lowered administrative
overhead for IT
|
|
| The RADIUS also has a log that keeps track of all remote
access attempts, allowing management the ability to see who/when someone is
accessing their network. |

Compromising Company Security |

Benefit |
AE Solutions needed to provide
access to company hardware
and software when
customers would come in to
do training on a demo system
without giving them complete
access to private company
information.
|
CreekPointe suggested utilizing
their existing high‐end Cisco
firewall and implementing a
DMZ configuration. A Creek‐
Pointe engineer worked closely
with AE Solution's network
administrator during the project.
The DMZ was brought
online with no interruption to
day‐to‐day operations. The
DMZ solution created a seperate,
secure network to place
their demo systems while assuring
the integrity of their
internal network. The DMZ
also functions as a secured
guest network
|
• Secured internal network
from demo systems
accessed by outside
clients
• Provided secure guest
access for visiting clients/
partners |
