LANDesk Software Announces Upgrades to Leading Management
Solutions
LANDesk® Management Solutions 8.7 offer industry’s first integrated
antivirus engine, improved enterprise scalability, and new OS deployment
capabilities to help Windows Vista Migration
Salt Lake City—May 23, 2006—LANDesk Software, a leading provider
of integrated systems, security and process management solutions, today
announced version 8.7 of the company’s family of award-winning
management products, which are expected to be available in June 2006.
The improvements in the latest release of LANDesk’s solutions have been
designed to help customers solve real-world IT problems such as managing
too many products from different vendors, managing large distributed
enterprise computing environments, and preparing for the daunting task
of migrating to the upcoming Windows Vista operating system.
The new releases are all based on the company’s automated management
platform and include LANDesk® Management Suite, LANDesk® Security Suite,
LANDesk® Server Manager, and LANDesk® Handheld and Embedded Device
Manager.
Convergys Corporation, a global leader in providing customer care, human
resources, and billing services has used LANDesk solutions since 2001
and recently beta tested LANDesk Solutions version 8.7. "Convergys uses

LANDesk Security Suite 8.7 includes a built-in antivirus engine and
antivirus console that is completely integrated with and takes advantage
of LANDesk’s broad management platform. Using the technology, customers
can set and automate enforcement of corporate security policies to scan
for and remove viruses and spyware, detect root kits, manage the patch
process and more within a single console. This saves customers time and
money by eliminating multiple security agents on computers across the
enterprise, as well as multiple database files and training.
“The previous version of LANDesk Security Suite offered the ability to
manage a number of the leading antivirus products in the market, and we
will continue to support them,” said Dave R. Taylor, vice president of
worldwide marketing for LANDesk Software. “But the antivirus engine
market has largely become commoditized and our customers are asking us
to leverage our management expertise and build it into our suite
solution. Adding this functionality and the capability to quarantine and
encrypt infected or suspicious files that can’t be cleaned, enables
customers to realize immediate value and increased device security.”
LANDesk Management Suite 8.7 offers a variety of updated operating
system (OS) deployment capabilities such as 32 bit pre-boot environments
for Windows PE and LDLinux. It will also support the new Microsoft WIM
Ximage technology. These and other OS deployment capabilities will
enable to customers to more easily prepare and migrate to Windows Vista
when it becomes available.
Increased platform support in LANDesk Handheld and Embedded Device
Manager 8.7 extends an IT organization’s ability to manage and secure
the increasingly mobile nature of their network and computing
environments. New platforms supported include Windows Mobile 5, Wyse
S30, 3125 SE, Neoware e100, e500, Capio One, HP T5520, and Teklogix 753.

Pricing & Availability
All LANDesk Management Solutions 8.7 products are expected to be
available through LANDesk® Expert Solution Providers (ESPs) in June of
this year. Pricing will remain the same for all products, except LANDesk
Antivirus which is new. LANDesk Management Suite 8.7 has a
manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of $89 (USD) per node.
LANDesk Security Suite has an MSRP of $59 (USD) per node; and LANDesk
Antivirus has an MSRP of $10 (USD) per node. Upgrade pricing for current
LANDesk Management Suite customers will also be available at that time.
