Thinstall Announces Version 3.2 Application Virtualization Solution, Supporting Full Range of Commercial and In-House Enterprise Applications

Thinstall Delivers Capabilities for Conflict-Free, Virtual Application Deployments, Support for Outlook 2007, AutoCAD 2008, Internet Explorer and SQL Server, and Includes API to Management Solutions

SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 17 -- Thinstall, the leading Application Virtualization Platform Solution, today announced the availability of Thinstall Application Virtualization Suite 3.2, offering the market's widest support for commercial and in-house corporate applications. Thinstall 3.2 provides a management API enabling desktop management solutions to manage and control virtualized applications as easily as natively installed applications.

Thinstall is a client-less, server-less application virtualization solution that allows applications to be packaged into simple EXE files that run in user-mode, isolated from the host PC, without installation or changes to the local desktop's registry and file system. Thinstall can transparently stream large applications from a shared network drive with no client or server software to install, as well as run the application "off-line."

Thinstall 3.2 adds supports for the latest applications and technologies including Outlook 2007, AutoCAD 2008, and Internet Explorer 6 and 7 and introduces innovative features such as the ability to update application while they are running, support for virtual drives and CDROMs, and the ability to redeploy application upgrades and patches without repackaging. The new release also includes an application registration tool, which enables dozens of applications to be "Thinstalled" within seconds during the user login process. This allows full desktop integration through Start Menu shortcuts and file type associations.

To aid management, Thinstall v3.2 has extended support for MSI installer service and a new Management API which provides methods to integrate with enterprise systems management solutions-such as LANDesk Management Suite, and Microsoft System Management Server-to allow fast and easy distribution of virtualized applications.

The adoption of virtualization strategies has accelerated with increasing use of application virtualization. Thinstall 3.2 is meeting the market demand with support for the widest number of commercial applications, and is the market's only solution for virtual deployment of 16-bit legacy applications, and specialized corporate applications developed in-house.

Thinstall has anticipated the next-generation requirements and is poised to lead the innovation of application virtualization technology.

"By virtualizing applications, Thinstall Version 3.2 can help many organizations address application issues that they battle with during migrations to Vista," said Michael Rose, associate research analyst with IDC. "The additional features of 3.2 ease the process of deploying virtual applications and is likely to increase adoption of the practice by enabling fast, enterprise wide deployment on key Windows platforms, including Vista."

Thinstall 3.2 benefits customers with fast, secure deployment and cost savings for IT strategies, including locked-down desktops, and operation via USB to support remote workers. With zero impact on existing infrastructure, Thinstall requires no change to existing desktop administration, and maintains the integrity and security of the host system.

"Virtualization as an IT strategy has seen accelerated adoption because the customer benefits are undeniable. Although it's a disruptive technology, Application Virtualization is advancing because it offers a win-win solution with better deployments and absolutely no changes required to the existing infrastructure. Application virtualization has only positive impact and that is making this innovation the way of the future," said Henrik Rosendahl, CEO of Thinstall. "Thinstall 3.2 is giving the enterprise a reliable and secure method for implementing application virtualization as a strategy for advanced operation benefits and tremendous ROI."
